I remembered how in high school we used to talk in History class about the United States, its development era and how it used to compete with other countries around the word in different areas and disciplines. Looking at the current USA, that force that used to motivate this country to be the first and best in everything is not as strong as it used to be. Consequently, the country has stayed behind and no capable of competing when it comes to development and infrastructure construction with countries such as Dubai. Dubai is an emirate in the United Arab Emirates. It recently started experiencing a property boom that has taken the emirate to have a diversity in business (Oil industry and tourism). Since 2004, Dubai has been experiencing a large scale construction that has transformed entirely this emirate.
As it can be appreciated, capital investment accompanied with development have made of Dubai one of the most prosperous cities around the world. Its extraordinary infrastructure, its well developed transportation system and the strong security system make Dubai be unique, vibrant and futuristic. Dubai already has the tallest building in the world, but where is the United States? It is sad how this powerful nation stopped being the country in vanguard within the field of science, mathematics and engineering. Dubai has been able to have such a prosperous development due to the good management and administration of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the current president of Dubai. This fast developing city has potential of becoming really important and powerful. Hopefully it keeps being a prosperous emirate and make the USA understand that we need to revitalize and go one more time to that mentality of the 1950’s.
